چکیده

Bearing designers have expanded their use of advanced Finite Element Method (FEM) as a result of improvements in computer hardware and software. Automotive bearing designers increasingly apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to the design of integrated automotive bearing products which tend to evolve gradually into sophisticated components. FEA is an effective tool that enables NSK to develop and supply high quality and extremely reliable products to its automotive customers on time. Bearings encounter many contact problems. To make an accurate model of the contact area is a crucial step in FEM. Comparison of actual test data and FEA data contributes to the refinement of the FEM contact model. Contact FEA enables design optimization, weight reduction, and design convergence to boundary and critical conditions. This paper describes the current status of FEA in bearing design at NSK and discusses practical applications such as hub unit bearings and V-ribbed pulleys.

H∞ Robust Controller Design and Experimental Analysis of Active Magnetic Bearings with Flexible Rotor System

H∞ controller for active magnetic bearings (AMBs) with flexible rotor system was designed in this paper. The motion equations of AMBs and flexible rotor system are built based on finite element methods (FEM). Weighting function matrices of H∞ controller for AMBs are studied for both the sensitivity and the complementary sensitivity of H∞ control theory. The simulation shows that the H∞ control ...

Differential Quadrature Method for the Analysis of Hydrodynamic Thrust Bearings

This paper presents the application of the method of generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) for the analysis of hydrodynamic thrust bearings. GDQ is a simple, efficient, high-order numerical technique and it uses the information on all grid points to approach the derivatives of the unknown function. The effectiveness of the solution technique is verified by comparing the GDQ computed results...

Seismic Risk Assessment of Optimally Designed Highway Bridge Isolated by Ordinary Unbounded Elastomeric Bearings

Recent experimental research has shown that ordinary unbounded steel reinforced elastomeric bearings (SREBs) can be considered as an attractive cost-effective option for the seismic isolation of highway bridges. To further investigate its benefits, the current study is focused on the seismic risk assessment of an optimally designed highway bridge isolated by SREB system. A typical three-span hi...

Static and modal analysis of parabolic-boundary functionalized Carbon nanotube-reinforced composite plates using FEM

This paper investigates the effect of different methods of carbon nanotubes distribution in a thin matrix on static and dynamic behavior of the nanocomposite. Five different symmetric patterns of distribution are considered, including four parabolic patterns and a linear one. For each pattern, the effective mechanical properties of the resultant nanocomposite are calculated using the rule of mi...
